In the 1990s, Korn became a big thing out of California, pioneering the nü-metal movement. They worn Adidas tracksuits and other clothing in that style, which lead to fans adopting the look. But, at that time, Adidas‘ focus was on sports merch.
Korn would then eventually sign a $500,000 sponsorship deal with Puma, which meant the band would wear their garments exclusively. Adidas, thus, missed a golden opportunity, especially because Korn had alreadywritten a song called “A.D.I.D.A.S.“, the second single off of their multi-platinum 1996 album, “Life Is Peachy“.
