The long-running conflict between Josh Grabelle of Trustkill Records and Keith Allen, the founder of Hellfest, has taken a new turn, as lambgoat reports. Allen acknowledged his participation in a new event named Endless Fires Festival after accusing Grabelle of “hijacking” the Hellfest name to start his own Hellphyra festival. Here is a placeholder website that has been launched.
Again with this shit. This is NOT HELLFEST. This is another lie brought to you by some people that couldn’t come up with their own original thing. Imagine your brand being so weak that you had to dig up someone else’s very retired brand and pretend it was your own. It’s a shame too I consider a few of the bands on this friends. But when it comes down to it, it’s all just about being cool for 5 minutes and getting paid.
If you’d like a stroll down memory lane, Josh Grabelle, the founder of Trustkill Records, was charged with “hijacking” the name of the Hellfest festival for his own “Hellphyra” festival, which was scheduled in July in New Jersey. Keith Allen, a musician and organizer who founded the festival in the late 1990s and later became a sponsor of Trustkill Records, seems to be the source of the charges of misconduct. Since 2005, when its planned edition was controversially canceled only days before it was scheduled to begin, that version of the festival has virtually been dormant. The festival ended in the midst of legal procedures when there was outcry about alleged financial wrongdoing and a lack of reimbursements. After he and Grabelle started talking about reviving the event last summer, Allen claimed in a statement posted on Reddit that Grabelle took management of the event from him for this fresh relaunch.
Apparently this is not over, so we’ll update you as soon as we know more.
