After neglecting to address his rape victim in court, former Anti-Flag singer Justin Sane (also known as Justin Geever) was forced to pay her $1.9 million. After Sane was accused of sexual assault online for an alleged 2010 incident, the band disbanded in July 2023. The band and Sane would later split up in two different declarations. Thirteen women came forward with unsettling accusations against Sane, according to an exposé published by Rolling Stone in September 2023. Kristina Sarhadi, Sane’s first accuser, filed a civil sexual assault case against him in November of that year. According to reports, Sane fled the United States and grew elusive in multiple attempts to have the suit served.

Sarhadi would later sue the band for carelessness, but the lawsuit was eventually dropped. According to Billboard, Sane was deemed guilty by default for not responding to Sarhadi’s assault and sexual battery complaint, and as a result, she was compelled to pay him $1.9 million. Sane received the verdict this past Tuesday, July 22nd. In addition to $420,800 for the expense of therapy to treat post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and anxiety resulting from the claimed 2010 rape, the $1.9 million award also includes $750,000 for pain and suffering.
