Finnish artist Jay Ray, hailing from Salo, has released a new single titled “Hope” in collaboration with electronic metal producer Paul Udarov. The track explores the importance of holding on to hope during difficult times, drawing inspiration from both the current state of the world and Ray’s personal experiences.
According to Jay Ray, the song was born from the idea that believing in a better tomorrow is essential, even when everything in one’s personal life or the world seems to be heading in the opposite direction. The track carries a particularly personal meaning for the artist, who has faced his own struggles with chronic illness.
“The story behind our new song ‘Hope’ was inspired by both what’s happening in the world right now and my own personal journey. To me, this song is about holding on to the possibility of a better tomorrow, even when things in your own life or the world seem to be moving in the complete opposite direction,” Jay Ray explains.
The artist reveals that his experience with chronic illness taught him the importance of maintaining faith in the future, even when there was no certainty that things would improve.
“When I was struggling with chronic illness, I never gave up believing that I could recover. I made a decision that I would find my way back to health, no matter what it took. I had no idea how long the journey would be or what it would demand of me, but I wasn’t willing to accept that my illness would define the rest of my life.”
“Hope” is built around the idea of an inner strength that can survive even the most difficult experiences. Jay Ray compares this strength to a flame that never truly goes out, even when it burns so faintly that it is almost impossible to see.
“I believe that we all have an inner flame that sometimes just needs a little encouragement to come alive again. Even in the darkest state of mind, there is light. Sometimes that flame burns so faintly that you can barely see it, but that doesn’t mean it’s gone. Sometimes all that’s left is a tiny ember, just waiting for the moment you bring it back to life.”
According to the musician, the central message of the song is that the difficulties of the present do not have to determine what the future holds.
“And maybe that’s what hope is really about: not knowing exactly how things will turn out, but refusing to believe that the way things are right now is how they will remain forever.”
Jay Ray and Paul Udarov hope that their new single will reach listeners who need encouragement while facing challenges of their own.
“We hope ‘Hope’ finds its way to those who need it, and that you find something of your own in it. Even when the light feels far away, don’t forget that it’s always there.”
Jay Ray concludes his message with a familiar phrase:
“May the Force be with you.”
