British metalcore outfit Ithaca has officially closed the curtain on their career with one last, powerful release — the emotionally charged single “Ithaca”. Formed in 2012, the band uses this track as a heartfelt retrospective, wrapping up their journey with a sense of finality and deep reflection.

Described by the band as a “place you arrive at when the journey ends — a kind of home,” “Ithaca” captures everything they’ve experienced together: the memories, the laughter, the tears. It’s their final offering, and with it, they lay the band to rest while expressing gratitude to the fans who stood by them through it all.

The group had previously announced their decision to disband earlier this year, playing what was billed as their final show in February at O2 Academy Islington in London. However, one more farewell awaits — they’ve been invited for a proper sendoff this August at the ArcTanGent Festival, this time on a larger stage.

Over the course of their career, Ithaca released two full-length albums: “The Language of Injury” in 2017 and “They Fear Us” in 2022. Beyond their fierce sound, the band was also known for their bold social activism. They were outspoken advocates for inclusivity within the metal scene, a stance that earned them both praise and backlash — including threats and doxxing. In one notable act of protest, they pulled out of Download Festival in response to the event’s ties with Israeli sponsors.
