It looks like Pearl Jam has a drummer again…

Author Benedetta Baldin - 22.5.2026

Pearl Jam has found a new drummer, but they won’t reveal who it is just yet, as per theprp. After a 27-year tenure, Matt Cameron left the band last year, leaving the position open. Stone Gossard, the band’s guitarist, stated this week, according to Spin, that a successor has been confirmed. However, this replacement is probably not going to be revealed until September, when the band performs at the 10th annual “Ohana” event. Earlier this week, Gossard gave an explanation of the choice on SiriusXM’s Pearl Jam channel. As of right now, the band will headline the 2026 “Ohana Festival” closing date on September 27 at Doheny State Beach on Dana Point, California, marking their live comeback and the introduction of this newest member.

I love the mystery of it all. It’s so exciting. There’s not enough mystery in the world. I think the band is very excited that we’re actually getting to play. It’s been a while and the fact that we get to do it at ‘Ohana‘ makes it even doubly exciting. And the fact that nobody knows who’s going to play drums with us even makes it triply exciting. So, it’s our mystery wrapped in an enigma and we’re relishing in it right now. – Stone Gossard

The American rock group Pearl Jam was founded in Seattle, Washington, in 1990. Pearl Jam, one of the most important bands of the early 1990s grunge movement, has outsold and outlived many of its peers and is regarded as one of the decade’s most important acts. Since its founding, the band has included bassist Jeff Ament, vocalist/guitarist Eddie Vedder, and guitarists Stone Gossard and Mike McCready. Dave Krusen, Matt Chamberlain, Dave Abbruzzese, and Jack Irons were among the band’s early drummers. Matt Cameron, who joined the group in 1998 and left in 2025, was the drummer with the longest stay. Since 2002, keyboardist Boom Gaspar has also performed in sessions and on tour with the group.
