“It doesn’t excite us” – Avenged Sevenfold’s lead singer shares why they won’t be playing old records in their entirety

M. Shadows discussed Avenged Sevenfold’s unique throwback event, which included a setlist of songs from the band’s breakthrough 2003 album “Waking The Fallen” and its 2005 follow-up, “City Of Evil,” in a recent interview with Rock Feed. The long-running Southern California hardcore punk band Death By Stereo will perform with the main act for the October 25 performance at the Observatory venue in Santa Ana, California.

Yeah, we’re playing a show for about a thousand people. We’re gonna be playing only stuff from ‘Waking The Fallen’ and ‘City Of Evil’. We’re just not a band that wants to go take an old record on tour right now — it’s doesn’t interest us, it doesn’t excite us, but one night does. And it really isn’t shots fired, ’cause everyone’s doing those tours. Just for us, personally, it doesn’t wanna make us get out of bed and go do that. But one night seems really fun to us. M. Shadows

In August, $25 performance tickets were made available only to members of the Deathbats organization, a community and fan organization centered around Avenged Sevenfold for the next generation. Two decades ago, Avenged Sevenfold and Death By Stereo went on tour together, therefore they have a lengthy history together. Additionally, two songs from Death By Stereo’s 2005 album “Death For Life”—”Entombed We Collide” and “This Is Not The End“—feature guest vocals by M. Shadows, singer of Avenged Sevenfold.
