Dublin’s blackened death metal outfit Malthusian have unleashed their latest single, “Eroded Into Superstition”, the second preview from their much-anticipated sophomore album, “The Summoning Bell”. The track, now streaming on all major platforms, offers a brutal taste of what’s to come when the full album drops on August 8th via Relapse Records.
“The Summoning Bell” marks the band’s first release through Relapse and sees them pushing further into unrelenting territory. The album leans heavier into death metal than before, featuring eight blistering tracks.
The album was recorded by Greg Chandler (Esoteric) at Priory Recording Studios in Birmingham. Sonically, it delivers a dense, atmospheric assault filled with swirling guitar work, relentless blastbeats, and a suffocating darkness that aligns with the band’s exploration of nihilism and superstition.
The current lineup features MB on guitar and vocals, TMK on guitar, FB on bass, and JK on drums. Their chemistry remains sharp, churning out a chaotic yet precise blend of blackened death metal that’s both ferocious and immersive.
Earlier this summer, the band dropped a stark black-and-white music video for the album’s title track, directed by Ray K Media. The visual set the tone for this new chapter, and “Eroded Into Superstition” only amplifies the anticipation surrounding the full release.
