In Flames wrap studio recordings for their 15th album

Swedish melodic metal veterans In Flames have finished recording their 15th studio album. Frontman Anders Fridén confirmed the news on Instagram, capping off a sessions run the band kicked off in Los Angeles in early February.

The band offered glimpses of the process through social media along the way. Guitarist Björn Gelotte opened with a short clip tagged “ifxv,” fuelling fan speculation that the abbreviation pointed to a 15th studio record. Fridén then marked the 20th anniversary of “Come Clarity” with a post hinting at a new beginning.

Later, he shared a photo from the vocal booth, noting the band was busy crafting both catchy hooks and heavy vocal work. Most recently, he wrapped the sessions with a series of photos, describing the process as a mix of laughs, frustrations, and creative breakthroughs, and confirming the album is finished.

Mixing and mastering still lie ahead, so a release likely remains a few months out. The new album also marks the first full studio record with drummer Jon Rice, who joined after Tanner Wayne’s departure. Their previous album, “Foregone,” arrived in 2023 and earned largely positive reviews. In Flames will head out on a European summer tour in 2026, where new material might surface.
