Holocaust survivor Inge Ginsberg, known as the “metal grandma”, dies aged 99

Inge Ginsberg, known for the video that went viral in 2014, has died of cardiac arrest at the age of 99.

Ginsberg was known online as the “death metal granny” for her performance of the song “Totenköpfchen” with a metal band in the video. The official name of the band was Inge & the TritoneKings.

Ginsberg founded the band when he was 93 years old. The song “Totenköpfchen” tells the story of Inge’s survival from World War II and an Austrian refugee camp.

With her band, Inge performed in a talent show in her native Switzerland and also applied for the Eurovision Song Contest.
