Los Angeles-based hardcore act Monk has released a new single “Shadow Self” from their upcoming “Dark Side of the Mind” EP. The album will be released on April 25, 2025 via Dine Alone Records. The band has already shared the EP’s title track, which features a guest appearance from Brendan Murphy of Counterparts, and another track called “Chains”.
The band combines raw energy and moments of conscious presence in their music. The band includes vocalist Frank Bach (Vicious Cycle), guitarist Scott Savarie (Cure for Youth, Black Lungs), bassist Connor McKenna (Headspin) and drummer Jesse Kalamian (Hatespeech). The group draws inspiration from classic bands like 86 Mentality and Knife Fight, as well as contemporary bands like Gel and Bib.
The EP’s title track “Dark Side of the Mind” deals with the challenges of introspection and confronting the dark side of the mind. Singer Frank Bach says the song encourages listeners to face their fears, doubts and unspoken truths.
