US grindcore supergroup Bent Sea featuring drummer Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth), vocalist Sven de Caluwé (Aborted), and bassist Shane Embury (Napalm Death), have revealed plans for their full-length album, “The Dormant Ruin”, slated for release on September 5th via Give Praise Records.
The band, originally a side project that launched in 2011 with the “Noistalgia” EP, enjoyed a period of activity with several split releases and the “Instagrind” series before going silent. This debut LP marks their return after more than a decade.
Bent Sea previewed the album with the release of its first single and accompanying music video, “A Scopic Radiance,” giving fans an early taste of what’s coming.
“The Dormant Ruin” packs 20 tracks into a compact 33-minute runtime. The album’s sonic palette stretches grindcore’s boundaries, incorporating elements of death, black, industrial metal, and dissonance to create a fast, urgent experience that feels heavier and more expansive than the band’s earlier work.
The record was produced by Daniel Bergstrand, known for his work with Meshuggah and Dark Funeral, and includes guest appearances from Kevin Sharp (Brutal Truth, Venomous Concept), John Cooke (Napalm Death, Venomous Concept), and Sylvain Coudret (Soilwork, Scarve).
