Author Benedetta Baldin - 8.2.2025

The first new music from Tenacious D since their 2024 break has been revealed. The comic rock duo of Kyle Gass and Jack Black will contribute a cover of REO Speedwagon‘s “Keep On Loving You” to a new compilation CD that will help victims of the recent disasters in Los Angeles. The album “Good Music To Lift Los Angeles” will also include previously unheard tracks by Death Cab For Cutie, Chelsea Wolfe, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, R.E.M., Health, The Armed, and more artists. You can have it right now by visiting this link. The California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Fund and the L.A. Regional Food Bank will benefit from the sales. Following their cover of Britney Spears‘ “Baby One More Time,” which was used on the soundtrack of Black’s movie Kung Fu Panda 4, “Keep On Loving You” will be the second Tenacious D cover to be released in the past 12 months. Although Tenacious D‘s new cover’s recording date is unknown, they have performed it live several times over the years. See a performance below. The wildfire charity benefit album “Good Music To Lift Los Angeles” won’t be the only one released this week. Bandcamp now offers the “Los Angeles Rising” compilation, which features Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Jarvis Cocker, the frontman of Pulp, and other artists.
