Former Tribulation guitarist Jonathan Hultén: Music video for “Dawn” released

Jonathan Hultén, who was the original guitarist of the Swedish death metal band Tribulation, has released a new solo single, entitled “Dawn“, along with a music video. You can check out the video below:

The music video was filmed in Årjäng, Sweden by Jakob Johansson (“Kollerud Productions”) and in collaboration with the dancer Amira Alexándra.

Jonathan Hultén comments on the new release as follows:

“‘Dawn’ was the first song that was written for what would become the album ‘Eyes Of The Living Night.’ With piano, electric guitars, buzzing synthesizers, a lofi-inspired beat and video game references from the SNES era, ‘Dawn’ flows through themes of emotional renewal and transitions between life’s different phases. It’s a short, melancholic journey that conveys a simple appreciation of existence itself, despite (or because of) its ephemeral nature.”

Speaking about the music video’s creative process, Jonathan Hultén shares:

“With a lyrics-less and incomplete demo as a reference, Amira, Jakob and I went out to film the first shots of what would become the music video of ‘Dawn’ in the summer of 2023. Although intended as the foundation of a future music video, it was a collaborative and improvised art experiment more than anything else. 8 months later, we went out in the middle of winter to film additional footage: a dance improvisation by Amira on a frozen lake. Eventually, in late 2024, all video material had been filmed, and the song ‘Dawn’ was finalized and recorded. But it wasn’t until the summer of 2025 that all the pieces of the puzzle would come together. Along with a storyboard, the collection of filmed material pointed the way to a cohesive storyline that had organically taken form over time. With more than 2 years in the making, this music video has had the most experimental and unpredictable creative process of everything we have worked on to date.”

After “Afterlife“, “Falling Mirages“, “Riverflame” and “Song Of Transience“, “Dawn” is the fifth single from Jonathan Hultén‘s 2nd studio album “Eyes Of The Living Night” which was released on 31 January 2025 via Kscope Music.
