For the first time this century, vinyl sales in the United States exceeded $1 billion in a single year, as per lambgoat. According to the RIAA, vinyl revenue reached $1.04 billion in 2025, the format’s 19th consecutive year of increase. Last year, consumers purchased an estimated 48.5 million new vinyl records as opposed to 29.5 million CDs. According to Luminate’s data on new LP sales, Taylor Swift sold the most copies of “The Life of a Showgirl” in 2025—roughly 1.6 million. Kendrick Lamar moved about 272,000 with GNX, while Sabrina Carpenter followed with about 292,000 for “Man’s Best Friend”. Michael Jackson‘s “Thriller” (182,000) and Fleetwood Mac‘s “Rumours” (190,000) both made it to the top of the catalog.
