Jonas Wesetrud Hansen, the vocalist of the Norwegian metalcore band Fixation, just performed one of modern metal’s most iconic anthems, Bring Me The Horizon’s “Drown” and absolutely killed it.
His intense and emotional cover of the song was broadcast live on national TV under the premiere of the Norwegian show Stjernekamp, truly proving Jonas as a force to be reckoned with.

For those unfamiliar, Stjernekamp is one of Norway’s biggest and most prestigious music competitions, broadcast live on national television to a massive audience.

Well-known Norwegian artists compete across diverse musical genres, challenging them to showcase both their versatility as vocalists, and connect with new audiences. For Jonas, this was the perfect platform to prove himself – and to introduce his talent to new fans.

This live performance also marked milestone for Jonas. Bring Me The Horizon has been a longtime inspiration for him and his band Fixation, who are making waves in the metalcore scene.

It was both terrifying and incredibly meaningful. Interpreting a song that has shaped my musical journey on such a big stage felt like an honor, but also a huge challenge.

But when the lights hit and the first note dropped, Jonas delivered. Raw, vulnerable, and emotionally charged, his performance earned massive praise from the judges of the competition.
And the Norwegian broadcaster NRK described it as “the most intimate and vulnerable performance of the evening,” praising Jonas for channeling authenticity and deepfelt emotions with every note. The judges didn’t hesitate – he was sent straight through to the next round.

It was nerve-wracking but also amazing. I could feel the weight of the moment in every part of my body. It was a mix of fear and adrenaline, but once I stood there, I gave myself over to the music. I’m still in shock, but in the best way. The response has been overwhelming, and I’m so thankful for everyone who has reached out with support. It’s a moment I will carry with me forever.

Through Stjernekamp, Jonas isn’t just competing to win – he seeks to reshape how a lot of people perceive metal.

Metal is about more than just heavy riffs and loud sounds. It’s a genre filled with emotion and depth, and I hope my performances open more minds to what metal can express.

He also sees this as a great opportunity for Fixation as a whole, a band known for their powerful sound and emotionally driven live performances.

I want to live off music and push Fixation to the limit, reaching our full potential. We want to reach out to even more listeners, I hope this journey helps us to connect with new fans.

Jonas invites new listeners to dive deeper into Fixation’s music.

Check out Fixation, listen to our songs, and come to our shows. We put everything we have into what we do, and we love sharing it with people. If you like what you hear, you’re more than welcome to be part of the Fixation family.

Fixation recently returned from a successful tour with Imminence in Finland, and there are rumors of more new music from Fixation already later this year.
For fans of intense, emotional, and powerful music, Fixation is a band to watch.

All eyes are now on Jonas as fans await his next performance in Stjernekamp on March the 22nd.
We are all eager to see new sides of his artistry revealed.
