Due to problems with the smoke and fog effects used throughout the show, Dethklok‘s performance at Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s Landmark Credit Union Live last night, May 16, was cut short, as per theprp. In an intriguing departure from the typical culprit—too much pyro—the accumulation of the mishandled stage production went on to trigger the venue’s fire alarm. Concertgoers reported that the alarms went off about eight songs into the performance, and the act was ironically halted in the middle of the band’s rendition of “Black Fire Upon Us.” Below is fan-recorded footage of the set one song before the cancellation and the aftermath of the alarms.
Thanks for your cooperation at tonight’s show. Since the show ended early, we’re working with the venue to make this right for you. Ticket holders will receive an email with more information soon. – Brendon Small via instagram
Upcoming shows with Amon Amarth and Castle Rat:
The Adult Swim animated television series Metalocalypse features the melodic death metal fictional band Dethklok, which is well-known for its parodic or satirical lyrical themes. The “Dethalbum”, the first official Dethklok album, was released on September 25, 2007. On the Top 200 list published by Billboard magazine, the album debuted at number 21. The band went on tour with Mastodon, High on Fire, and Converge after releasing “Dethalbum II” on September 29, 2009. On October 16, 2012, the band’s third album, “Dethalbum III”, was made available. On October 29, 2013, the audio for the special episode “Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem” was made available.
To perform the band’s music in live performances, an actual band was formed. Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha formed both bands. Brendon Small performs the music heard on Metalocalypse. Although it was released under Small’s name because Adult Swim owned the rights to the band name, “Brendon Small’s Galaktikon II”, his second solo album, was released on August 25, 2017. It has been colloquially referred to as “a new Dethklok album.” The band made a comeback at the 2019 Adult Swim Festival after a five-year break. In August 2023, they released “Dethalbum IV”, their fourth album and first in more than ten years, along with the music to the movie Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar.
