Finnish sludge band Themata premiere crushing new single “Colossus” from upcoming EP

Finnish sludge metal outfit Themata has dropped their latest single, “Colossus”. This track is the second preview of their upcoming EP “Riven,” which will arrive on September 24th via Meara Music.

The new release underscores what has distinguished the band in Finland’s underground metal scene—an unrelenting blend of heavy, atmospheric sound with raw, unfiltered energy. While their earlier single “Loathe” unveiled in June laid the groundwork, “Colossus” builds on that foundation with towering riffs, suffocating grooves, and a vocal style designed to strike deep.

The band describes “Colossus” as weighing heavily on the listener—both with the internal struggles and the overpowering forces we face—and says it’s the sound of struggle and survival, carved into riffs. The track was recorded and mixed by Jerkka Perälä at Soft Neon Audiovisual.
