Finnish modern sludge outfit Themata unleashes crushing debut EP “Riven”

Finnish modern sludge metal band Themata has released its debut EP “Riven”, marking a milestone in a vision that has been developing since 2018.

The EP blends influences from extreme metal with a dense, monolithic sound. Beneath the crushing weight of the riffs lies structured songwriting and a strong visual identity, reflecting the seasoned pedigree of its members.

The lineup includes musicians who have worked in bands such as Atlases, Dö, Grave With A View, and I, Cursed. The release is handled in collaboration by Finnish labels Meara Music and Rockhopper Music.

On the EP, Ville-Veikko Laaksonen handles guitar and bass, Juuso Onerva is on vocals, Jerkka Perälä plays bass, and Ville Ristolainen is on drums.
