Not achieving the first place in something doesn’t mean you can’t still win. A prime example of this is the Finnish singer Bess who competed with “Ram pam pam” in the Finnish selection format UMK (“Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu”) in order to represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy. Although Finland sent The Rasmus with “Jezebel” to the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 (who took one of the last places in the final), it is Bess who is much more successful, also within the country, in the Finnish charts. “Ram pam pam” has been in the top ten for 22 weeks now, including number 1 for 10 weeks in a row. Bess was also invited to perform at the “Wiwi Jam 2022” in Turin, as the only act who never represented her country in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Now, another honour has been given to her, namely a cover version of “Ram pam pam” by the Finnish metal project Voutsa feat. Noora Vuola. You can listen to the reinterpretation below:
