Finnish hard rock outfit Sixgun Renegades have made their return from a hiatus with their fourth studio album “Slave To The Grid”, released today.
The new album marks an important chapter for the Helsinki-based band. Not only does it showcase their most personal and ambitious material to date, but it also arrives alongside a lineup change. Longtime bassist Miko Mattila has stepped aside, while Tuomas “Topo” Koskipää joins the band as the new bass player.
According to the band, “Slave To The Grid” reflects a challenging creative process. Internal struggles shaped the songwriting, ultimately pushing the group toward a more diverse and emotionally driven sound. As a result, the album promises greater depth than anything the band has previously released. Commenting on the record, vocalist Niko Räty states:
“Slave To The Grid is the most diverse and strongest album of our career to date. It’s an album that combines composition and production in a way that we will be proud of for the rest of our lives.”
“However, the making of the album was not without challenges. We had to make painful decisions to secure the future of the band. In some ways, this album feels like a crossroad for us, and the lyrics deal with letting go and finding your own direction.”
Musically, Sixgun Renegades continue to build on their signature sound. Strong riffs, soaring vocal melodies and powerful rhythms remain at the core. At the same time, the band expands their approach with a more refined production and broader dynamics.
Formed in 2008, the band draws influences from classic hard rock and heavy metal acts such as Thin Lizzy, Van Halen, Judas Priest and Dokken.
To celebrate the release, Sixgun Renegades will perform an album release show tonight at Semifinal in Helsinki.
