Finnish groundbreaking death metal duo Eradication of the Unworthy Infants have dropped a new song “Gangrene” right before the band is kicking off their first ever US tour. Band’s vocalist Jad Batrouny had the following to say about the new song:
“Gangrene is a song Joonas and I wrote in the moment when we were jamming together sometime last year. It all fell into place in about a half hour, one of those moments where the song writes itself and you don’t gotta tweak a single thing.
The lyrics were something I played around with, this was a couple months after Russia attacked Ukraine. Having spent the majority of my life in Moscow and starting the band there, it kinda made me sick. I was no longer allowed to visit that place I called home and suddenly it was committing atrocities. Gangrene is a serious disease that’s pretty common on the battlefield, it’s pretty damn disgusting. I like to believe the song’s about a soldier caught up in his war, internal and external. Seeing his home shattered by his neighbor, his family. Cursing out those responsible as they sit up there and gain millions and millions off the deaths of those had nothing to do with it. The disease is not only that of the flesh, but that of the mind as well. The gangrene dictates what we do, when we do it, and how we do it. And it’ll do it again and again and again. You wish it weren’t that way, but really there’s nothing you can do about it..”
