Ferris wheel at Highfield Festival 2024 in Germany catches fire

Yesterday evening at around 9 PM, two gondolas on the Ferris wheel at Highfield Festival 2024 in Germany caught fire for reasons still unknown. Several people were injured, two of them seriously, and the festival programme was temporarily interrupted. The two gondolas were completely burnt out, but the fire has since been extinguished and the festival programme continued an hour and a half after the incident. The annual open air festival Highfield takes place near Leipzig. This year’s line-up includes rock bands such as Mando Diao, Rise Against and The Kooks.
