Faetooth release dark and empowering single “Death Of Day”

US doom band Faetooth have released a new single “Death Of Day”, which is now available to listen to below, as well as on streaming services. The song continues the band’s familiar dark vein, but this time with a strong symbolic message pulsing in the background.

In an interview with Decibel magazine, the band explained that the inspiration came from the myth of Lilith – a character born out of “scum” and isolated from the very beginning of her existence. This parallels strongly with how queer and trans people often feel like outcasts in society.

The lyrics of the song are a kind of praise for Lilith: first describing her birth into the shadows, and later, empowered, she rises up – along with the other despised – to give the middle finger to a world that tries to suppress them.

“Death Of Day” is at once mournful and defiant – a perfect example of how the band seamlessly blends music and message.
