In a recent interview with Canada’s iHeart Radio, Evanescence‘s Amy Lee addressed the swirling rumors suggesting she could be the new vocalist for Linkin Park following the tragic passing of Chester Bennington.
Lee, upon hearing that she was a fan favorite for the position, expressed gratitude, stating, “That is an incredible compliment. I have not heard that. No, I have not been contacted [by LINKIN PARK] or anything like that. But [I’m a] huge fan feel like our worlds, our fanbases are a lot of the same people.”
Reflecting on past encounters with Linkin Park, Lee reminisced, “That’s really sweet. We never… Well, did we play shows [together]? I don’t know if [Evanescence and Linkin Park] were on a festival together or whatever. We met. We were in the studio at the same time. When we were making ‘Fallen’, I just briefly got to have a conversation or two with Chester. He was really sweet.“
Dispelling the rumors about her potential involvement with Linkin Park, Lee clarified, “But no, it’s not true. But that’s awesome. They should ask me about that. I don’t have a ton of free time, but I might do it part time.“
The speculation about Linkin Park‘s new vocalist was ignited by Jay Gordon, frontman of Orgy, who mentioned in a radio interview that he had “heard” they were collaborating with a female singer. However, Gordon later retracted his statement, asserting he knew “nothing about any of that” and accused “people” of misinterpreting his words.
As fans eagerly await updates on Linkin Park‘s future, Lee’s response adds further intrigue to the ongoing speculation surrounding the iconic band’s next chapter.
