Following the banana man incident last month, End It singer Akil Godsey has spoken out, as per theprp. Since the footage of that now-famous concert made news during the first week of the month, the hardcore band has remained silent. Godsey and other End It members at a Terror concert opening on June 5, 2026 It objected to a concertgoer dressed as a banana. Godsey even offered the band’s set list as a reward to anyone who could “strip the banana.” “I’m just saying, he was asking for attention, now you got it,” he continued. The audience reacted right away, trying to swarm the concertgoer before tearing up his banana costume and throwing it all over the place.
It seems that the fan in question at the Toronto stop was not aware of End It‘s attitude, even though film of the band confronting people dressed in costumes at previous gigs has since been made public. Additionally, the concertgoer has a history of wearing banana costumes to numerous performances, as noted on his social media accounts. In an interview with “banana man” following the Toronto performance for the Beardo & Weirdo podcast, he revealed that he had seen Terror that evening and wasn’t fully familiar with End It. End It‘s Facebook site vanished as a result of the controversy, and the band vanished from a scheduled European tour with Hatebreed and Life of Agony. This is Godsey’s statement.
The funniest thing to come out of all this is people telling me they were disappointed in me, when the first song I ever wrote for this band is called ‘Give Up‘, which is where I instruct people to walk into the woods to commit suicide. You’ve obviously not been listening to the band, and I don’t know what the fuck you thought was going on over here. We’re in a, we’re a hardcore band. We do hardcore things. You don’t have to come over here. You don’t have to pay attention to me at fucking all.
Everyone in my life loves me very much. I’m very well taken care of. I do not need your attention or validation. I’ll be just fine. Hey, if the band got to quit, so be it. I guess I’ll go to work. I’m a fully functioning adult male. I’ll be just fine. There’s more to life than whatever the fuck you think is going on over here. You don’t even know what’s going on over here. We haven’t spoken in ages. You’re living off of assumptions. Don’t assume, my parents taught me that. But have fun with the life you’ve made for yourself.
Godsey added a caption to his video, suggesting that he has been the target of death threats and racial epithets because of the banana man event. “Thanks for the racism and death threats and dissertations,” he said in reference to the video below. Some well-known artists have endorsed his latest tweet. “Tabernacle” was proposed by Aaron Heard (Jesus Piece). Vocalist Geoff Rickly of Thursday said “B.C.H.C.” in response to Nails‘ “fuck all these pussies,” and the shoegaze band Nothing used a church emoji in response.
