Electric Wizard to release new live album in December

Legendary British doom metal band Electric Wizard will release a live album “Black Magic Rituals and Perversions Vol. 1” on December 13th via Spinefarm Records. The album was recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, when the band retreated to their rehearsal space in rural England.

“We’d been gigging for two years at that point, around America three times, going to Japan and Australia, and we were sounding pretty good by the end of it. When the pandemic happened, we thought, ‘Fuck it, maybe we’ll never play again.’ So we went into the jam room and played the songs to get them on tape to capture how we were playing at the time.”  says singer-guitarist Jus Oborn.

Oborn and guitarist Liz Buckingham retreated with the other band members to their crypt-like rehearsal space, where they recorded the material on a 16-track recorder without an audience. Originally, the band had no intention of releasing the recordings.

The result is a raw and heavy collection of eight tracks of the band’s best-known material, including classics such as “Dopethrone”, “Funeralopolis” and “Black Mass”.

Tracklist:

  1. Dopethrone
  2. Incense for the Damned
  3. Black Mass
  4. Witchcult Today
  5. Satanic Rites of Drugula
  6. Scorpio Curse
  7. The Chosen Few
