Elder performed without Jack Donovan at their show in Portland, OR

Elder were forced to perform as a reduced lineup during their September 22 show at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland, Oregon, following the sudden absence of bassist Jack Donovan, as per theprp. The band revealed that Donovan’s condition had severely deteriorated on the road after he contracted pneumonia while attempting to push through the tour. In an official statement issued yesterday, the group addressed the situation and provided an update on his health.

IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING TONIGHT’S
PORTLAND SHOW

Our bassist Jack has fallen seriously ill and has been hospitalized with pneumonia. After struggling the past week with illnesses and continuing to play, his condition took a turn for the much worse suddenly after arrival at Roseland Theater.

Doctors have advised him that had he not sought medical attention his condition could have become life threatening. He is currently hospitalized overnight.

We are so grateful that his condition is stable and he is getting treatment. With this extremely last minute development – literal minutes before doors – and with his blessing, we have decided the show must go on.

Tonight’s concert will doubtless be different but we hope for your understanding.
