The Norwegian prog rock band Leprous‘ keyboardist and singer, Einar Solberg, has once again taken the lead, as reported by theprp. The Norwegian Radio Orchestra is featured alongside him on his most recent solo hit, “Stella Mortua.

‘Stella Mortua‘ is one of the darkest and most grandiose pieces I’ve ever written — a fusion of progressive metal and cinematic orchestration, recorded by the incredible Norwegian Radio Orchestra. It explores how envy and insecurity can quietly thrive beneath the surface of success. In this world, demons wear tuxedos, and pride slowly turns to paralysis.

With ‘Stella Mortua‘, the Einar Solberg project has truly found its sound: highly dynamic, orchestral and cinematic progressive metal with an emotional core. I’m going all the way with this.

Stella Mortua” was promoted as a solo song, however Solberg had a lot of assistance in the studio. For this song, his partners, violinist Chris Baum (Bent Knee) and drummer Keli Guðjónsson (Agent Fresco), returned. Outside of the orchestra, guitarist Pierre Daniel and bassist Jed Lindgard were two new players.

Solberg will perform live in promotion of his upcoming sophomore solo album in the fall of 2026. Tickets available starting Wednesday, November 19th.
