Ecca Vandal releases music video for “Cruising To Self Soothe”

Loud, cross-genre and unafraid to be different: Ecca Vandal is a true original. In the new music video for “Cruising To Self Soothe”, she unceremoniously turns a skate park into her living room and inspires with wonderfully unconventional images.

I’m really proud of how it turned out and I wanted to tell a little story about how it all came together: a story about a skateboard, self-discovery and a teeny tiny train…

Take a look right now:

The video was recorded at the Knox Skate Park in a suburb of Melbourne, where Ecca has spent a lot of time in recent years. The musician directed and edited the video herself, together with Richie Buxton.

The song is about letting go of baggage, inner negativity and doubt to find faith in yourself, and that this process can be very isolating as you go through it. The Skate Bowl was the perfect place to portray this idea of feeling so small and insecure in all that cold, shadowy, negative space, and becoming more confident on your feet day by day until you’ve mastered every wall and every turn of this thing. Little by little, the fear of letting go, the fear of falling, is reduced until you see falling as just another motivation to get back up and try something new.

Cruising To Self Soothe” will be released just in time for the upcoming tour with Limpbizkit, which will bring Ecca Vandal back to Europe for the first time in seven years.
