Swedish gothic doom metal band Draconian has announced a change in their lineup, as well as a new update for their upcoming album. Read the complete statement below.

DEAR FRIENDS, it is time to drop some proper news:

Kicking Off the New Album: Drum Tracks Complete!

The first stage of recording for our upcoming album is complete!

Starting last Thursday and working straight through the weekend, Daniel Johansson was at Studio Gröndahl in Stockholm, laying down the drum tracks. Once again, the sessions were conducted by the masterful hands of Karl-Daniel Lidén, who served as the drum technician and producer.

As many of you most probably know at this point, Karl-Daniel was a co-producer on SOVRAN and he mixed and mastered our last album, Under a Godless Veil. So, if you loved the transcendent, airy, and darkly atmospheric vibe adn feel of that record’s mix, you won’t be disappointed this time – he is back to mix and master the new album as well!

Welcome, Daniel Johansson!

With this, a rather poetic, delightfully resonant way to make this long-awaited band announcement: We are officially welcoming Daniel Johansson into Draconian!

Daniel kicking off the recordings is the perfect way to write this moment into history. Truth be told, given that he’s been performing and on the road with us for about six years – and has been a friend for even longer – we suspect this comes as a shock to almost no one. Now it is written, and so it shall be done!

A Note of Thanks

This change, of course, means Draconian has parted ways with drummer Jerry Torstensson. We thank him for his contributions behind the kit throughout the years. It’s been a quite a ride! About 25 years ‘on paper’, so to speak.

We wish him the very best in all his future endeavours.

A Note From D.J.

“It’s now official that I’ve become a full-time member for the band that I’ve had the privilege of calling my traveling family since 2019. It truly feels like home.

It’s been an absolute joy to put my musical footprint on the new songs for the upcoming album and I hope you all will be delighted by the outcome. Things are now in balance.

Doom Onwards!”
