The sludge/psych rock supergroup Mutoid Man (Cave In, Converge, High On Fire) has drawn attention to the striking parallels between the new official theme music for this year’s FIFA World Cup and their own 2023 song, “Call Of The Void“, as per theprp. On July 02, the band posted the following on social media, criticising FIFA for the vocal similarities between the two songs.

In the middle of 2012, Ben Koller and Stephen Brodsky of Cave In recorded a few songs as a duo under the moniker Mutoid Man. The project was officially revealed in March 2013, and Magic Bullet Records published its debut EP, “Helium Head”, in November of that same year. Later, bassist Nick Cageao joined Koller and Brodsky to form a three-piece band. On June 30, 2015, Sargent House released their debut full-length album, “Bleeder”. In June 2017, the band released “War Moans”, their second full-length album. Additionally, they serve as the house band for the chat show Two Minutes to Late Night, which has a heavy metal vibe. Zeke and Jeff Matz from High On Fire joined the group in August 2021, taking Cageao’s place on bass.

To date, they have put out three studio albums and two EPs. AllMusic classified their style as metalcore, but pointed out that it also incorporates rock & roll, math rock, progressive rock, psychedelic music, and hardcore punk and heavy metal.
