The cast of the upcoming biopic about the world-dominant German rock band the Scorpions, “Wind of Change”, has been announced. Ed Speleers (You, Outlander) will play guitarist Matthias Jabs, Luke Brandon Field (Interview With the Vampire, Jojo Rabbit) will play drummer Herman Rarebell, Alexander Dreymon (The Last Kingdom) will play guitarist Rudolf Schenker, and Ludwig Trepte (Generation War) will play lead singer Klaus Meine. In addition, David Kross (The Reader) will play Andrej, the band’s friend who is imprisoned on the other side of the Berlin Wall, and Dominic West (The Crown, The Wire) will portray Doc McGhee, the band’s manager. The story of Scorpions‘ ascent to fame and pursuit of world peace will be told in “Wind of Change”. The title ballad, “Wind of Change,” which became the band’s biggest worldwide hit, is at the center of the movie. After Scorpions played in front of 300,000 people at the 1989 Moscow Music Peace Festival and saw the changing tides as the Cold War came to an end, Meine was moved to write the song. Produced by ESX Entertainment for Fox Entertainment Studios in collaboration with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, the film is directed by Alex Ranarivelo. Filming is now underway in London, with a 2025 theatrical release date in the United States.

It’s been an unbelievable journey developing this film and bringing it to life feels surreal. Not only did the Scorpions’ music help me get through tremendous difficulties as an Iranian immigrant in America in the early 80’s, but their message of love, peace and rock ‘n’ roll seems more relevant today than ever. This cast is an amazing ensemble of truly great talent. I can’t thank Fox Entertainment and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment enough for their support and especially the band — Rudolf, Klaus and Matthias — for believing in us and trusting us to tell their life story.
