Despised Icon release new single “Death of an Artist” from upcoming album “Shadow Work”

Canadian deathcore pioneers Despised Icon have released a new single titled “Death of an Artist” from their upcoming album “Shadow Work”, which is set for release October 31 via Nuclear Blast. The track can be listened now below and on streaming platforms, with an official music video releasing later today.

This marks their first album in six years following “Purgatory” in 2019. The band explains the album as a deeply introspective record exploring resilience, inner healing, and confronting the darker sides of oneself, while maintaining their signature balance of technical aggression, speed, grooves, and morbid melody.

Production was handled by band members Alex Erian and Eric Jarrin, with mixing and mastering by Christian Donaldson, known for his work with Cryptopsy, Shadow of Intent, and Signs of the Swarm. The album artwork is created by the talented Eliran Kantor.

Despised Icon will join headliners Sanguisugabogg on their U.S. tour. Joining the package as support are Defeated Sanity, and Corpse Pile. Prior to the 22-date trek, the band will make appearances at Festival de Musique Emergente and the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival. The run will conclude with 2 headliner hometown shows on December 6 (sold out) and 7 at Club Soda.
