Der Weg einer Freiheit release intense lead single “Eos” ahead of sixth album “Innern”

German black metal mainstays Der Weg einer Freiheit have unveiled “Eos”, the lead single from their forthcoming album “Innern”, set for release via Season of Mist on September 12th. The song is accompanied by a music video directed by Paloosa Productions, now streaming below.

“Eos” is a sweeping meditation on destruction and rebirth, told through the perspective of a fallen soldier who finds peace in becoming one with the earth. The track builds from a restrained, atmospheric opening—where echoing guitars and ritualistic drums conjure a sense of mourning—into an all-out black metal onslaught. It’s brutal and unrelenting, yet deeply introspective, mirroring the album’s central themes of reckoning and regeneration.

Produced entirely by frontman Nikita Kamprad, “Innern” continues Der Weg einer Freiheit’s evolution as one of the most emotionally resonant forces in modern black metal. The album features six tracks that navigate a journey through disintegration and renewal, blending post-metal atmospheres with searing intensity. It also marks the first studio appearance of bassist Alan Noruspur.

With “Eos” at its emotional core, “Innern” promises to deliver a compelling blend of grief and transformation—an album where sorrow doesn’t just linger, but leads the way toward something vital and new.

To support the release, the band will embark on the “Innern” European tour this fall. Dates include:
