Demon Hunter releases emotional new single “There Was A Light Here”

Author Teemu Hakala - 8.9.2025

Metalcore stalwarts Demon Hunter have unveiled their latest single, “There Was A Light Here,” a poignant track from their upcoming twelfth studio album of the same name, set to arrive on September 12 via their own Weapons MFG label. Produced by frontman Ryan Clark and guitarist Jeremiah Scott, the album continues the band’s emotionally driven trajectory following their 2022 concept album “Exile”.

The new song is a heartfelt tribute to Clark’s late mother, weaving themes of love, light, and loss with Demon Hunter’s signature blend of heaviness and melody. In the lead-up to the full album, fans have already been treated to three other singles—“I’m Done,” “Light Bends,” and “Sorrow Light The Way”—each accompanied by music videos. “Sorrow Light The Way” even landed in the Top 50 of YouTube Music’s metal videos, debuting among the top 20 current releases.

To celebrate the release, Demon Hunter will launch their There Was A Light Here U.S. tour this fall, with support from War of Ages, Convictions, and Cultist. The tour kicks off at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville and wraps up at Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, with stops across major cities such as Chicago, Minneapolis, Austin, Sacramento (at Aftershock festival), and Seattle.

Since the formation in 2000 in Seattle, the band has earned a reputation as defining voices in modern metalcore, with numerous Billboard charting albums and a dedicated fanbase around the world.
