It is a known fact that many metal bands take inspiration from the occult, the gothic and the darkness of the world. And the show that took place at Druso in Bergamo was destined to be a journey into the void. To help us, three Italian bands led by wonderful artists: Hellfox, Nocturna and Deathless Legacy.
Very punctual at 21:30, Hellfox begins their set. They play a mix of gothic and death metal, with some melodic influences. Even though the audience wasn’t very responsive, they gave their best in playing and tried to engage with the crowd as much as they could. In my honest opinion, they still have a long way to go in terms of performance and stage presence, but I am confident they will get there very soon. Before “Raising“, lead singer Greta informed us that they gave this song the nickname “La Banana” because of the rhythmic chant in the intro. It was fun to sing along! Greta also mentioned that it was a dream for her to be the opener band for Deathless Legacy, and I thought that it was such a big moment for her and the band! I was absolutely blown away by bass player Priscilla’s performance, rocking both harsh vocals and the instrument. This band is definitely one to keep our eyes on! I can’t wait for what the future will bring them.

With a quick stage change, the mood gets even darker and ancient with the second band of the evening, Nocturna. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this group in all the shows they have played since their debut, and I couldn’t miss them tonight in Bergamo as well! Their voices, their movements, their glances, everything is perfectly synchronized and harmonized together: Rehn and Grace, lead vocalists, have remarkable chemistry, and it’s undeniable that they are loving every single second of their performance. All of the tracks played come from their debut album, “Daughters of the Night”, including all the singles as well as my personal favourite, “The Sorrow Path”. Nocturna is one of the most promising groups in the Italian metal scene, and I couldn’t be prouder to be their fan as well as their friend!

A church organ plays some notes… this is the signal we’re about to see the last band of the night on stage: Deathless Legacy, captained by the charming Steva, overwhelm the Druso, and we’re about to descend into the infernal regions. They made more than music, they provided us entertainment for our eyes and ears with many bits and scenes on stage. Revyla was acting as the antithesis to Steva, and in one of the scenes, when she was dressed as a priestess holding a crucifix, then Steva steals it from her and turns it upside down. So there are many religious/anti-religious symbols and details to look out for. During “Legion of the Night“, the keyboardist and the guitarist took a field trip off stage among the audience! That was so cool and spontaneous! Steva was in optimal shape, but I feel that Deathless Legacy’s songs don’t do her voice justice. She has insane potential, and hopefully, she’ll be able to fully use it soon!
