Dark screens: let’s take a look inside Ghost’s bold phone-free tour decision

A bold rule will be implemented by the platinum-certified Swedish metal band Ghost as part of their recently revealed 2025 world tour plans. The following warning for prospective participants was observed by those who took the time to study the fine print on the official admat for the run.

This show will be a phone-free experience. Phones will be secured in Yondr pouches. Guests maintain possession of their phones at at all times.

The similar policy was in place for the band’s September 11th and 12th, 2023 performances at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, so this isn’t a completely new trend for them. However, the additional requirements were reasonably required because those two concerts were recorded for use in the group’s feature film, “Rite Here Rite Now.” It seems out that the masked ensemble has decided to enforce this new rule moving forward, most likely because of the live concert shoot. For singer Tobias Forge, the band’s ringleader, the restriction on cell phones in the audience at those performances proved to be beneficial. This rule also has the added benefit of preventing first-time visitors from spoiling the show, which is beneficial considering the amount of stage production and spectacle that Forge and company put into their live performances. For those concerned about emergencies, dedicated phone zones will be available in the venue lobbies, ensuring that urgent calls can still be made or received.

I have never seen a crowd interact the way that they did since I was in a club band. They were the best shows I’ve ever done with Ghost, just because I didn’t have to see those fucking mobile phones.
