American post-hardcore outfit Dance Gavin Dance have dropped the third single “Trap Door” from their upcoming eleventh studio album, “Pantheon,” due on September 12th, 2025. Following “Midnight At McGuffy’s” and “All the Way Down,” the track premiered alongside a visually intense music video.
The single arrives as the band continues to evolve, with “Pantheon” marking a notable lineup change: Andrew Wells, previously serving as lead guitarist since 2022, now shares lead vocal duties with Jon Mess for the first time on a full-length studio album. The record also includes an eclectic guest feature from funk icon George Clinton on a track titled “Space Cow Initiation Ritual,” hinting at some wild genre experimentation.
“Trap Door” fits neatly into the album’s broader sonic narrative, which leans into heavier, more experimental territory while keeping the band’s signature mix of chaos and melody intact. The music video, directed by Matthue Cole, enhances the aggressive energy of the song with razor-sharp visuals and high-speed edits.
Produced by Kris Crummett and Stephan Hawkes, “Pantheon” is Dance Gavin Dance’s first major release since the death of longtime bassist Tim Feerick in 2022 and the 2024 departure of vocalist Tilian Pearson. The 13-track album, featuring artwork by longtime collaborator Mattias Adolfsson, reflects a band pushing forward through loss and reinvention with renewed creative fire.
