Crossbreed is getting ready to release a rendition of the gold-certified dance rock song “Unbelievable” by EMF from the early 1990s, as per theprp. The first single from Crossbreed‘s first new album since 2009, “Radiation Therapy,” will be released on June 1st. The 2024 edition of the yearly “Wasteland Weekend” event, a “Mad Max”-inspired festival hosted in the Californian desert, served as the idea for that record for the industrial nu metal band. That album is scheduled to be released on August 4.
James Rietz, Chris Nemzek, Charlie Parker, and Travis Simpkins created Crossbreed as a four-piece band in 1996. Keyboardist Jason Troph joined them a year later, but he left in 1998 to lead the Orlando-based band Irrational. Phil “Flip” Marquardt took his place. Only 1,000 copies of their self-produced album “.01”, which included a cover of Chris Isaak‘s “Wicked Game,” were published in 1998. Dan “DJ” Izzo (then known as “D.J. Balistick”) became the band’s turntablist and second keyboardist in 1999. At this point, he started creating their stage spectacle with glow paint and black lights, which helped the band get recognition in the music business.
Crossbreed met the girls from the band Kittie when they performed at Tampa’s 98Rock radio festival, Livestock, on April 29, 2000. They handed them a copy of their “Babydoll” EP, which ended up with Kittie‘s former label Artemis’ A & R Representative. By the end of the year, Crossbreed had signed with Artemis, and on May 8, 2001, their debut album, “Synthetic Division”, was made available nationwide. “Underlined” was their debut single on MTV2 and MTVX. That song’s music video received a nomination for a Billboard Music Award. They performed briefly with Static-X and toured the United States and Canada with the German band Rammstein during the summer of 2001. Over 100,000 copies have been sold by “Synthetic Division” thus far.
