Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has squashed rumours that the Iowa-based metal band have found a new drummer.
Shortly after the departure of longtime drummer Jay Weinberg, who was fired earlier this month, fans began to speculate who his replacement would be. A persistent rumour is that drummer Jeramie Kling, who recently left Venom Inc., is Slipknot’s new drummer.
Kling fueled those rumours a little further with an Instagram post that featured a deep red Slipknot logo, with the stylised S behind it, set against a black background. The caption on the quickly deleted post read, “Drumming is simply a matter of timing. Bring it to you. Invite the chaos.“
Kling also posted a photo of a new snare drum last week with the hashtag #im666, in reference to Slipknot’s “Heretic Anthem” lyric “If you’re 555 / then I’m 666″.
Now Corey Taylor has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to shut down Kling’s teasing, writing: “To everyone wondering about our new drummer… It’s not him. Stop letting him troll you. He’s not even on the list”. Taylor’s confirmation comes with the emphatic conclusion in direct response to Kling’s “666” hashtag, with the Slipknot vocalist writing: “He’s not 666″.
