Chris Hemsworth learns drums from Parkway Drive’s Ben Gordon

Actor Chris Hemsworth teamed up with Parkway Drive drummer Ben Gordon for a crash course in drumming as part of his new docuseries Limitless: Live Better Now. In the first episode, “Brain Power,” Hemsworth set himself the challenge of learning to play drums well enough to join Ed Sheeran onstage in front of 70,000 people in Bucharest.

The two have been friends for years, so when Sheeran threw down the challenge, Hemsworth knew exactly who to call. According to Gordon, Hemsworth came in as a complete beginner with no rhythm or coordination, so they had a lot of ground to cover. Over weeks of intense practice, Gordon pushed him to improve his timing, stamina, and confidence behind the kit.

The hard work paid off in a huge way. The episode captures Hemsworth’s big moment as he jumps onstage with Sheeran, powering through the song and earning himself a playful “drumming excellence” award at the end.

“Brain Power” premieres on Friday, August 15th on Disney+ and Hulu, with a National Geographic broadcast following on August 25th. The series sees Hemsworth taking on all sorts of mental and physical challenges across six countries, from scaling dizzying heights to tackling demanding endurance tests.

Parkway Drive’s latest album, “Darker Still”, was released in 2022 and the band released a new single “Sacred” in May.
