The four-song “jubilee EP” titled “Black Star” is being worked on in the studio by Swedish doom metal legends Candlemass. When the band celebrates “40 years of heavy doom deliverance” in the spring of 2025, the EP—which will include two new tracks and two covers—will be published. Lars Johansson is now working on the guitar overdubs for “Black Star,” which is provisionally scheduled for release by Napalm Records in May 2025. Jan Lind recently completed his drum tracks at Sound Trade studios in Solna, which is just outside of Stockholm. Released in November 2022, “Sweet Evil Sun” is Candlemass’s most recent album. “Sweet Evil Sun” featured Candlemass examining themes of failure and optimism while reviving all the grandeur of the early years. It was recorded in Stockholm at the NOX studio.
