Candelabrum Metal Festival announces new lineup of bands for 2026

Author Hector Sanchez - 4.3.2026

Candelabrum Metal Festival continues to thrive as one of North America’s premier extreme metal events, and 2026 is no different. Based in the city of Leon, in Mexico, Candelabrum has hosted some of the heaviest bands in metal music over its five-year history. This year, it will feature a powerful lineup on the weekend of the 12th & 13th of September, including legendary names seldom seen live. Here are some highlights:

…And Oceans – This Finnish band combines the most elegant symphonic sounds with the raw energy of black metal. Currently led by the well-known Mathias “Vreth” Lillmåns (Finntroll), …And Oceans promise to unleash an aggressive yet ethereal experience live!

Old Man’s Child  Yes, we all read right, after a 25-year live absence, Old Man’s Child are back to amaze us with their symphonic blackness! Led by the enigmatic figure of Galder (formerly of Dimmu Borgir), Old Man’s Child is a one-man project that has been nurtured by the inclusion of other musicians over time. This is going to be an act not to miss at Candelabrum.

Loudness – From Japan, like a rising sun, the heavy metal godfathers will showcase the heavy side of this music, proving that this genre can be born and refined anywhere in the world.

Bloodbath – This multi-talented band doesn’t need any introduction as a live act: No matter what stage they step on, Bloodbath set a high standard of barbarism. Encompassed by members of Paradise LostKatatonia, and Opeth, these guys will unravel a literal bath of sweat and stamina at Candelabrum.

Lifelover – Many would think this mythical ensemble was gone after their split in 2011, but apparently, ghosts can come back from the afterlife—Lifelover proves it. As an influential name in the depressive suicidal black metal subgenre (DSBM), they deliver some of the most terrifying vocals and riffs anyone could hear. Having just reunited for a few shows, Lifelover is sure to leave a haunting impression live.

The Haunted – This is one of the most enigmatic bands to have ever emerged from Sweden, and for very good reasons. The Haunted combines the best heavy metal with thrash aggression. The result is flawless ferocity. We surely expect a reckless moshpit at their show.

Destruction – Another name that needs no introduction. Destruction has produced some of the most aggressive sounds in German thrash since their early years, shaping the character of extreme metal subgenres. The band will play their legendary first album, “Infernal Overkill” (1985), in its entirety, so they will close the festival splendidly!

Tickets are already selling out, so act fast! If you’re looking for a new festival adventure, we can guarantee that Candelabrum is the go-to option!
