With their first new album since 2018’s “Tormentor,” The Agony Scene is preparing for a musical comeback, as reported by theprp. Through the post below, the band’s vocalist Mike Williams stated earlier this month that their fifth full-length album would be released. Since then, the group has declared the formal arrival of guitarist BJ Sampson (formerly of Enterprise Earth), who will also be contributing as a songwriter. Sampson had previously collaborated on the Imperium AD project in 2021 with Williams and Ryan Folder, a graduate of The Agony Scene.

The Agony Scene is an American heavy metal band from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Formed in 2000, the group currently consists of lead guitarist Chris Emmons, vocalist and bassist Mike Williams, and rhythm guitarist and bassist Brian Hodges. The band has released four albums, one on Solid State Records, one on Roadrunner Records, one on Century Media Records, and one on Outerloop Records. They had been signed to Abacus Records too. The Agony Scene released their first studio recorded demo in January 2002, which subsequently landed in the hands of Seattle-based label Solid State Records, that eventually granted the band a record deal. The band’s latest release was out on July 20, 2018, titled “Tormentor”. Although the band was signed on with Solid State Records for a time, which mostly signs Christian acts, The Agony Scene confirmed in an interview with HM magazine that they were not a religious band.
