Bent Sea’s album is now available, as well as official video for ‘Apathy And Irony’

The debut album “The Dormant Ruin” by Dirk Verbeuren’s long-running Bent Sea project was recently released by Give Praise Records. Orders for the LP can now be placed here. This one is about how we know we’re destroying our planet, yet no one seems to be willing to put a stop to it… The apathy of humankind and the irony of ‘progress’, which is increasingly looking like it’s our downfall.

In 2011, Bent Sea launched their offensive with the “Noistalgia” EP, a powerful nod to grindcore’s early days. Before abruptly going silent, Bent Sea, led by drummer, guitarist, and songwriter Verbeuren of Megadeth, produced three more split releases and the guest-studded “Instagrind” series. They were joined on bass by Shane Embury (Napalm Death) and vocals by Sven de Caluwé (Aborted), who replaced Devin Townsend, who appeared on “Noistalgia.” The original grind pattern is twisted by Bent Sea anno 2025, which adds death, dark, and industrial elements, along with unhealthy amounts of dissonance and an unmistakable feeling of urgency. The band’s early work is deftly transcended by this crushingly heavy record. Like Mother Nature’s unavoidable wrath, no one will survive Bent Sea’s twenty songs and thirty-three minutes!
