A tour of Europe and the UK in the autumn will include Austrian blackened death metal band Belphegor as the main act, as per Lambgoat. Krisiun, Asagraum, and an unidentified band will accompany them on the tour.
In 1991, drummer Chris, guitarists Helmuth and Sigurd, and singer and bassist Maxx formed Belphegor as Betrayer. In April 1991, the band published their first demo, “Kruzifixion”, followed by “Unborn Blood”. They released another demo, “Bloodbath in Paradise,” in Maxi-CD format in 1993 after changing their name to Belphegor. Maxx left the band at some point before or after this demo was released, and Helmuth has since taken over as Belphegor‘s guitarist and vocalist. Bassist Mario “Marius” Klausner became a full-time member of the band after session musician A-X played bass from 1993 to 1996.
“Obscure and Deep”, the band’s 1994 demo, was issued under a temporary contract with Perverted Taste Records. The Black Sabbath song “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” was covered for this CD. In January 1995, Lethal Records released their debut album, “The Last Supper”. During this period, two inverted crosses encircled by blood were added to the band’s new emblem.
