Avenged Sevenfold have re-engaged with the popular video game franchise ‘Call Of Duty’, as theprp reports. The multi-platinum alternative metal band contributed their track “Magic” to the first season of the latest installment, ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7’. A 360° virtual reality video for this new song is available for viewing below. The song can be unlocked within the game as a reward for completing an Easter egg in the newest Zombies map, Astra Malorum. This collaboration continues the band’s longstanding association with the Treyarch-developed entries in the ‘Call Of Duty’ series. Notably, the band’s vocalist, M. Shadows, appeared in ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4’. Additionally, the entire band performed in-game during ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2’. Their contributions to the franchise have previously been compiled into an EP, reflecting their ongoing engagement with the series.
Avenged Sevenfold was established in 1999 by high school friends M. Shadows, Zacky Vengeance, The Rev (James Sullivan), and Matt Wendt. Synyster Gates joined as the lead guitarist in 2001, shortly after the release of their debut album, “Sounding the Seventh Trumpet”.
This marked the commencement of their progression toward musical excellence. Initially, their sound was rooted in metalcore, characterized by aggressive riffs and screamed vocals. Over time, their albums reflected an increasing incorporation of traditional heavy metal and hard rock elements, resulting in a distinctive and adaptable sonic profile. The band’s experimental scope extended to genres such as progressive metal, country, and Broadway-inspired compositions.
In 2009, tragedy occurred with the death of their drummer, Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan, due to an accidental overdose. Despite this loss, the band persisted and enlisted Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy to contribute to their 2010 album, “Nightmare”. Three years later they released “Hail to the King”, in 2016 it was time for “The Stage” and in 2023 “Life Is But a Dream…”.
