At The Gates announce final album with Tomas Lindberg – share new single “The Fever Mask”

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers At The Gates have released the first single “The Fever Mask” from their upcoming album “The Ghost Of A Future Dead”. The record marks the final release with late vocalist Tomas Lindberg. It will be released in April 2026.

The opening track, “The Fever Mask”, has just been released online, giving fans the first proper look into what the new album holds. The single premiered on SiriusXM Liquid Metal before being made widely available to stream.

Lindberg passed away in September 2025 after battling cancer. However, the band finished the album before his passing. As a result, “The Ghost Of A Future Dead” stands as his final studio recording with the group.

Musically, the album continues the band’s dark and aggressive sound that was built in rise of the Gothenburg scene in the 1990s. Their landmark album “Slaughter Of The Soul” shaped countless melodic death metal bands around the world.

Now, “The Ghost Of A Future Dead” carries added emotional weight. It closes an important chapter in the band’s history.
