As Steve Harris speaks more about Iron Maiden’s Rock Hall induction, Bruce Dickinson is named Best Live Speaker

Author Benedetta Baldin - 10.7.2026

Singer Bruce Dickinson and bassist Steve Harris of Iron Maiden discussed the band’s impending induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026 in a recent interview with Metal Hammer magazine in the United Kingdom, as per Blabbermouth. Along with other current members of the group, including guitarists Adrian Smith, Dave Murray, and Janick Gers, former drummers Nicko McBrain and Clive Burr, former singers Paul Di’Anno and Blaze Bayley, and former guitarist Dennis Stratton, Steve and Bruce will be honoured into the Hall of Fame. When asked if he had internal conversations about declining the Rock Hall award, Steve responded as follows.

No. There have only been comments from a couple of members of the band here and there. Bruce has his own strong feelings about it, which is his opinion. It’s never really bothered me one way or the other, because awards aren’t what we do this for. But in a weird way I’m glad it’s happened so the Americans will stop banging on about it. To me, if you get offered something, you say, ‘Thank you very much.’ But did I lose sleep over getting it or not getting it? No.

Dickinson stated:

I can’t even summon the energy to be vitriolic about it. I appreciate that a significant number of people are happy for us. That’s nice. It’s not something we’re bothered about.

Would they attend if they weren’t performing?

No. I don’t do those sort of things. I didn’t even go to the recent red-carpet thing for the documentary. It’s not me. – Steve Harris

Bruce Dickinson, the leader of Iron Maiden, received the “Best Live Speaker” award at this year’s The Speaker Awards, which were held on July 3 in London, UK. Dickinson made a statement regarding his honour.

Honestly, for once I’m lost for words. No, I’m not really. But seriously, I’ve spent many years working towards becoming a better speaker, entertaining people, telling stories and motivating them. And this is just unexpected and brilliant.

Dickinson was a nominee in three categories for this year’s The Speaker Awards: “Best Live Speaker,” “Best Motivational Speaker,” and “Best Storyteller.” These awards honour the world’s most exceptional speakers, those who enthral, motivate, and leave a lasting impression, whether on stage or online. These honours serve as a standing ovation for the experts who commit themselves to imparting knowledge, crafting compelling narratives, and using words to change audiences.
